For this assignment we focused on line and shape. Most of my shots in this assignment were taken close up, enough to the point where you can see the details in each shot. For most of my shots in this assignment they were either taken at an angle or straight forward. In my shots I made the ordinary extraordinary by taking shots from different point of views I used the portrait mode on my phone to take clear images so I was able to show all the details in each image. To compose my shots I did consider the rule of thirds, aligning the subject with the guide lines and the intersection points, placing the horizon on the top or bottom line. In my first shot of the clock the clock is off to the side and not centered which shows the rule of thirds. In my third shot of the railing i showed a dynamic composition that successfully leads the viewers eye through the work because in this shot there aren’t leading lines.
Texture, Pattern & Rhythm
For this assignment we focused on pattern, rhythm and texture. In a few of my images I was able to capture the image beyond the subject matter making my images deal with surface quality and not just the subject of the image by having the space in my shots positive. Filled with lines, designs, or shapes, Even placing the object in a certain image of capturing the object at a certain angle. I think my most captivating image was the shot of my shoes because it has a lot of lines and patterns in it and the background on where the shoes are even have a little deign too so it’s like two examples of texture and pattern in one shot. I feel that the lighting conditions did make an impact on the quality of the images because depending on the lighting it would impact how dark of light the photos will come out, like for example my picture of the stones the lighting was very light so the image looked lighter. If I could shoot one image over again it would be the tree stump because I don’t like the angle I took it at, as you can see it is at a birds eye view but I think I would much rather have it at an angle where you could see the side and top to see not only the texture at the top but on the side too.
Utility Lines
For this assignment we explored power lines, utility poles and children’s play equipment for interesting line, shape and dynamic composition. In my shots I did not consider the rule of the thirds because i did not align the subject with the guide lines and the intersection points, placing the horizon on the top or bottom line. Most of my shots are dynamic compositions because they successfully lead the viewers eye through the work because in this shot there aren’t leading lines. I feel that in shot number two it contains the best play of organic and geometric shapes because of the power lines lead form a triangle. I think shot number three best satisfies this assignment because of its interesting line and shape.
